Matthew 25:14-20
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
God has graciously given us spiritual gifts; let’s invest them wisely!
When my children were younger, I gave each of them different responsibilities according to their age and capability. For my oldest, I expected her to keep her room clean; for my middle child, to make her bed; and for my youngest, to put away his toys. For the most part, they were able to fulfill their responsibilities; and I would reward them accordingly.
In this passage, a master gave each of his three servants a sum of money, “according to his own ability,” and he expected them to invest it wisely. The first two did, doubling their investment. But the third did not, for which he received a scathing rebuke and a severe punishment.
The first two servants, however, received high praise from their master, and a wonderful reward: “Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.”
This kingdom parable illustrates how God gives each of His children unique and amazing spiritual gifts, which He expects us to use wisely and even reap a return for the Kingdom.
What a great honor and responsibility we’ve been given. Let’s make our Master proud!
What gift(s) has God given you? How are you using it for the good of others and the glory of God?
Be blessed,
Denise
