This is a man-pleasing, crowd-pleasing recipe if ever there was one. Every time I’ve made this, I get asked for the recipe. I’ve made it for church potlucks (because it makes a lot) and for almost every family get together (including Thanksgiving). Even those who don’t necessarily like baked beans LOVE this sweet and savory dish. You can even eat it as an entire meal, with cornbread muffins. I’m telling you, it’s a keeper!!
Ingredients:
1 lb. ground beef
1 pkg. pork sausage, regular flavor
1 c. chopped onion
1 t. minced garlic
3 large cans Bush’s Baked Beans, Original
1 c. BBQ sauce
½ c. brown sugar
¼ c. water
2 T. lime juice
2 T. yellow mustard
1 t. chili powder
¼ t. pepper
Directions:
Cook ground beef and sausage in a skillet, drain grease
In a crockpot, combine rest of ingredients, plus cooked meat; mix thoroughly
Cook: Low, 4 hours
You can serve all of it (like at a potluck) or divide and freeze half of it, to eat at a later date.
Enjoy!
We just tried this recipe and it's delicious. Thanks for sharing!
